As part of York University’s improvements to cybersecurity, the University is changing anti-virus solutions, and will no longer be supporting Trend Micro anti-virus.
University-owned Devices:
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (D4E) is the recommended enterprise EDR solution for university-owned devices running Windows and macOS. This has changed from TrendMicro ApexOne. If you have any questions about D4E, contact USC at askit@yorku.ca.
- Note: Please contact your local IT support if you have a university owned, unmanaged device (university owned but treated like BYOD.)
Personally-owned Devices:
- Windows: For personal and home use, it is recommended to make use of the robust built-in anti-virus capabilities that are native to Windows operating system. The built-in antivirus solution is Windows Defender. To learn more about Defender, read:
