York University has been notified of a data breach of a third-party vendor, AudienceView Campus. The vendor’s services are used by York to handle online ticket sales for events organized by York Athletics and Recreation.
AudienceView Campus has indicated this data breach involved credit card information used to purchase tickets online between Feb. 17 and 21, 2023 and affected a number of organizations making use of AudienceView services, including other universities and colleges in Canada and the US.
York takes the privacy of our students and community very seriously. Pending a review, York has temporarily suspended use of the AudienceView services and are working with the vendor to understand why this happened, what data was involved and what actions they are taking to increase their security. AudienceView Campus is notifying affected individuals. As an added precaution, York will also directly notify those affected.
