Cybersecurity Awareness Training Program

In an era of constantly evolving cyber threats, protecting our university’s digital infrastructure is more crucial than ever. To strengthen our defenses, York University is rolling out a newly developed Cybersecurity Awareness Training Program that is required for all faculty and staff.

Cybersecurity is a shared commitment—by taking this training, you empower yourself with the skills to recognize and report digital threats, safeguard sensitive information, and contribute to a stronger, more resilient security culture within our university.

Training Overview:

Duration:
The training consists of 13 modules (1-5 minutes each) and takes no longer than 1 hour to complete.

How to Access:
The course is available on YU Learn: Cybersecurity Awareness for Faculty and Staff 2025.

Deadline for Completion:
All currently active faculty and staff are required to complete the training by June 21, 2025. As for new employees, this training will be part of your required onboarding training assignment.

Completion Tracking:
Your active participation in the training will play a crucial role in maintaining our organization's security. UIT will be monitoring training completion and following up with managers and faculty advisors regarding team members who have yet to  complete the training.

You can access the training directly by visiting the link here. Alternatively, you can also manually search for and self-enroll in the course by following the steps below.

Step 1:

Start by logging into YU Learn with your PY credentials. Once you are logged in, you should be presented with your YU Learn Dashboard. Click on "Learning Opportunities" located on the red banner of the page.

Step 2:

Next, navigate to the Keyword search box on the left side of the page and search for "cybersecurity". Click on the link to the Cybersecurity Awareness for Faculty and Staff training course.

 

Step 3:

Click on the "Register" button at the top right corner, and then click on "Access Course".

Step 4:

Next, scroll to "Required Activity" and click on the course link to access the material.

Step 5:

Each module consists of a short informative video on the topic; some modules are followed by 3 associated quiz questions. You can go through the content at your own pace and must answer the quiz questions correctly in order to successfully complete the course.
